Happy Halloween!

Image
Happy Halloween! Today Julia and her school friends dressed up in their costumes and went trick or treating at all the buildings at my work. They all were very excited to show off their costumes. When I picked up Julia after work she was as white as a Halloween ghost. She was not feeling well and wasn't playing with her friends. Her teacher said that she was complaining of a tummy ache. She slept in the car on the way home and laid down on the couch. She didn't want to move let alone go Trick or Treating. Once the first group of kids came to the door she started to perk up. She ended up going out afterall and even went to Grandma and Papere's. She came home for dinner and immediately barfed after a few bites of her dinner. Yikes! Stomach flu? I hope not. She was fine after that so we'll see how she fares tonight. I hope I don't barf next.

Jack O Lanterns

Image
This year Julia told me specifically what she wanted the pumpkins to be: Dora (an encore from last year), Boots, and a happy Jack O Lantern. No scary ones this year. Oh well. Still fun. Boots was tough because I didn't have a pattern for it. It came out pretty good though. Check them out.

Pumpkins!

Today we went to find our pumpkins for Halloween. There were plenty to choose from. I think we got some good ones. Julia wants a Dora pumpkin again this year. I'm thinking something scarier.

Nathan's Birthday Party

Image
Saturday was cousin Nathan's birthday party. He is 3 years old now! The cousins had fun playing together and modeling their Halloween costumes. Julia likes to play with Mya in particular. Mya likes to be like a big sister to Julia. She even took Julia to the bathroom to go poo! Julia told me that she wiped her bum by herself (I could tell! Gross). She also said that Mya didn't check her bum to see if it was clean. I said that's Mommy and Daddy's job, not Mya's.

Family Day Breakfast

Image
Friday morning was Family Day Breakfast at daycare. Mommy and I joined Julia for sausages, waffles, hash browns and fruit. I particularly enjoyed sitting on little mini chairs and using little mini utensils. Julia was thrilled to have Mommy there.

First Bee Sting

Julia was stung by a bee on Tuesday. This was her first sting ever. She was with Grandma and Papere at Tim Hortons and was stung on her finger. Although it swelled up a bit and she was in discomfort, it cleared up by the next morning. She didn't complain about it at all on Wednesday.

Pizza Party!

Image
On Saturday, Julia had a pizza party with Grandma, Papere and Mommy while I went to the Leaf game. Julia had a great time making her first pizzas. I ate some when I came home from the game...not bad.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Image
Busy weekend again. Friday we went to Papere and Grandma's for dinner. Mandarin take out...yum...bad for the diet. On Sunday Papere, Grandma and Auntie Weezie came over for Thanksgiving dinner. Good food and lots of it. On Monday, more food. We celebrated Mama's 90th birthday (and Thanksgiving) at her house. All of Mama's 7 great-grandchildren were there. Julia had fun as usual playing with her cousins. Lots of good food and plenty of desserts. Bad for the diet.

Field Trip - Apple Orchard

On Thursday Julia went on her first field trip with her class. They went to an apple orchard. Mommy tagged along for the trip. It was a fun trip. They picked apples from the tree and went on a hay ride. The weather was perfect. Check out photos of the day.

Mr. Mom

Image
Mommy was away at a conference Thursday and Friday night. So I was left to care for Julia...ALONE! Turned out fine. Thursday, Julia ate dinner that came out of a can (Dora pasta). Friday we went to Grandma and Paperes for dinner. On Saturday we went to Grandma and Papa's after lunch. Mommy met us there. Julia was really good at night time too. She didn't give me a hard time at all. The hardest part is playing her make-believe games with her. Not my cup of tea as you can imagine.

Back to Chuck E Cheese

Image
Today we went to Chuck E Cheese for dinner and games. Earlier in the day, Julia went to visit Papere in the hospital. He is doing better and we hope to see him back home very soon.

Kinder-Dance

Image
This week Julia started her Kinder-Dance classes. She really enjoyed her first class. In this class the kids dances without their parents and in fact the parents must leave the room. Julia was ok with that. She is looking forward to her next class.

A Week in Review

Image
Boy this was a tiring week. Mommy's been fighting a cold, Julia is still a bit sick, and I was on a course all week. My course was downtown (U of T) which created a bit of a logistical problem with daycare. Daycare drop off is 7:30am earliest which didn't give me enough time to get downtown. Lucky for us Grandma was available to drop Julia off in the morning. Mommy would pick Julia up in the evening. Julia had a follow up doctor's appointment on Monday. Looks like her cough is viral so there is not much that can be done other than rest and time. The cough seems to be getting a bit worse. On Friday, Julia stayed home with Grandma. In the evening, Papere had to go to the hospital with a fever. It was a looong night for Grandma and Auntie Weezie in the Emergency ward. Papere did get a room on Saturday. He is still there but I hear is is doing better. Hopefully he will be home soon. Get better soon Papere! On Sunday, Julia and I went to Ron's for dinner and to ...

Halloween

Image
Halloween already? Not quite but it's not too early to shop. Julia has already picked out her costume. Cinderella! I don't even want to tell you what this get up cost. It's from the Disney Store. When I was a kid, my Mom made my costumes out of scrap fabrics and Dad's old clothes. The good old days.

Weekend Round-Up

Well the summer is now over.  This last long weekend of the summer started with Julia staying home for 2nd straight day from school.  Her fever was still bad on Thursday so we thought it would be best to keep her home.  The fevers did continue throughout the day.  The doctor put her on a couple of puffers to help her coughing and did a throat swab to be tested for infections.  The good news is that her ears were not infected.  So far the puffers have helped and since Saturday the fevers are gone too. Friday evening, Grandma and Papa were visiting Grandma and Papere and they took us all out to dinner for some italian food.  It was very good. Saturday was a quiet day.  Julia stayed in most of the day.  We were suppose to go to my cousin Harumi's house warming but I didn't think it would be a good idea to have Julia sick around her cousins.  Sunday I went to play golf with the guys (I SUCK!) and Julia spent the day with Mommy...

Sick

Julia had a fever at school on Wednesday. I had to take her home a bit earlier than her normal pickup time. Her fever was 102F. She was very lathargic by the time I got her home and she threw up a bit. Once the Tempra lowered her temperature she was more alert and eventually back to her normal self. She stayed home at Grandma and still had fevers throughout the day. I think she will be home again tomorrow.

Mya's Birthday

Sunday was cousin Mya's 4th birthday party. It was a pool party! (I'm sure you all know that and have already seen a bunch of pictures). It was a lot of fun...even for the adults! The water side was cool. Check out the videos of Nancy (lame splash), Debbie (better splash), and Mark (big splash).

Sleep Over Party

Julia had "sleep over party" with Mommy and Grandma at Grandma's house. They read stories, painted their nails and watched movies. Daddy meanwhile had the guys over for a poker game. Today Julia went for her last swimming class. She actually jumped into the pool twice voluntarily! She went right under water and didn't seem to bothered by that. She also got her report card and she passed (nobody fails).
