Hating Halloween Already

I don't think that Julia is in the Halloween spirit yet. She really hates her costume. We tried to get her to put it on again tonight. No go. Here are a couple of video clips of her freaking out. Click here to watch Julia hate her costume-1 Click here to watch Julia hate her costume-2 Here is a video clip of her in a better mood. Here she is dancing to her Baby Einstein video. Julia has a bit of a coordination problem. Clapping and dancing at the same time is hard for her. She's like her Dad. Click here to watch Julia dancing

Ear Check Up

Image
This morning Julia had an appointment with the ear specialist to check out her tubes. Her ears are clear, no fluid, and the tubes are in perfectly. She cried a bit when he was looking in her ears but nothing like she usually does. She kept saying "Ears" on the way out. We bought Julia a Halloween costume this weekend but she doesn't like to wear it. We try to put it on everyday to get her use to it. She's going to have to wear it at daycare on Halloween because they go trick or treating around the buildings during the day. Sheryl and I have worn it more than Julia! We are trying to make it fun but it hasn't worked yet. We feel silly and she still hates it. Julia's Alberta grandparents will soon be Ontario grandparents. They have moved out of their house in Alberta and are on the road right now. They will be arriving in a few days (Sunday or Monday). They don't get their new house for a few weeks so they will be living with us. Julia will love t...

Who's That Julia?

Julia loves to look at pictures of her cousins on the computer. She checks Mya/Selena and Andrew/Nathan's blogs everyday. Here is a video clip of Julia naming her cousins. Click here to watch Julia name her cousins

Ouch! I Fell on My Face

Today Julia fell on her face outside at daycare. She was walking downhill on a path by the climber. She wasn't hurt too badly, just a bit of a superficial scrape on her upper lip. When Mommy asked her to point out her ouchie she pointed to her knee. I guess it doesn't bother her too much. Today there was another birthday party at daycare. It was Sami's second birthday. They sang Happy Birthday and had cake. The next birthday in the class is Julia's in February. There is quite a gap between the four oldest who are all two now and the three youngest, of which Julia is the oldest. Sami is Julia's boyfriend I'm told.

What a Grouch!

This is a video clip of Julia at Boston Pizza tonight. This was when she was really hungry and the food hadn't come yet. She is not easy to please in this situation. Click here to watch Julia the Grouch

Dinner out

Image
This afternoon we went to the mall to do some fall clothes shopping for Julia. We also picked up a Halloween costume too. After the mall we went to Boston Pizza for dinner. Julia was really hungry and as a result a bit cranky. Once she go her food and ate she was in a better mood. There was a clown there making balloon animals. Julia didn't care much for the clown (but who does?) but she liked the pink teddy bear that the clown made.

Julia and Mya Share Food

There was a time when Mya would inflict pain on Julia whenever she had a chance. Now they get along great. Here are a couple of videos of Mya and Julia sharing some snacks. Click here to watch them share blueberries Click here to watch them share goldfish

Fun at the Zoo

Image
Today we went to the zoo. We met up with Auntie Jackie, Selena, Mya, Nancy and Jenna. Selena was there to "walk" in the Toddle for Tots fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House. It was a great day for the zoo. It was a bit cool in the morning but it was sunny all day. We were there for over 5 hours. Julia liked all the animals but I think she was enjoying being around her cousins more. Julia was beat by the end of the day and fell asleep in the car right away on the way home.

New Trike, New Coat

Image
Check out Julia's new wheels. This one has a tall handle in the back for pushing. Great for my back! It also converts into a rocker. Julia also got a new fall coat. She's all set for the cool weather.

Culture Day at School

Today all the toddlers had to bring in something from their culture. Julia brought in a framed doll in a kimono that was given to her by Grandma. During circle time they all showed what they brought. I heard they had fun. Someone brought in a CD so they all danced. Betty Ann paid them a visit and gave each of them a small toy. Julia is getting a bit bossy with some of the younger toddlers. Today Ashley got in between Julia and me. It was like a mother bear getting separated from her cubs. Julia's the mother bear, I'm the cub and poor Ashley is the unsuspecting hiker. It didn't get too physical (a bit of a shoulder brush) but Julia was at my side in a split second clinging to my pant leg with one arm and waving her other arm in Ashley's direction..."No Ashley! No! My Daddy!". Relax. Someone's going to bop her again.

Julia at 8 Months

I didn't have any pictures or movies to post for today so I dug up this video of Julia when she 8 months old. Kinda cute. Click here to watch Julia

Surrogate Grandma

Today was "Grandparents Day" at the daycare. Unfortunately Julia's grandparents couldn't make it. But that didn't stop Julia from having a good time. Julia adopted one of the other toddler's grandma for herself. Logan's grandma had and extra grandchild for the day. Julia bonded with her and even sat beside her during lunch. She seems to love older folks. At home Julia was in a BAD MOOD! Crying, Kicking, Screaming...the works! She wouldn't even sit down for dinner. I'm not sure what the problem was but she was pissed off. She finally calmed down during her bath time and was pleasant for the rest of the evening. I forget to put her ear plugs in during bath (oops) but Julia reminded me right away..."ears?".

Hey! Who Put that Chair There?

If you have spent any time with Julia you quickly realize that she is clumsy! Here is a good example of her clumsiness. Click here to watch Julia

Sunday at Home

Image
Today we decided to take it easy. Yesterday was a busy day so it was nice to spend it together at home before we begin the work week. In the afternoon we took a trip to Toys R Us to find a new riding toy for Julia. All her riding toys are too small now and the trike she got from Aunt Betty is a bit big right now. We got her a trike that converts from a rocker, to a push trike, to a regular trike. I still need to assemble it so you'll see pictures soon (you can see the box in the background of one of the pictures). Julia also got a new shopping cart. She loves this $10 piece of flimsy plastic! I'm sure she'll love the box the trike came in even more. We'll find out tomorrow. Here are a couple of pictures of Julia withOUT a pony tail as requested by one of "Julia's World" readers (pictured in a previous post).

Lunch with the Family

Image
On Saturday the extended family got together for Aunt Mikiko's 49th day memorial service. After the service Uncle O treated everyone to a REAL japanese lunch! Julia ate a bit of rice and chicken. Sheryl actually found something on the menu to eat too. The food was very good. Julia had fun with her cousins Selena and Mya and also got a chance to see her great grandma (Mama). Julia was a bit nervous with all the new faces (surprise). After lunch Grandma and Papa came over to our place to babysit Julia. We were off to Grantley and Kim's wedding in the evening. Julia had fun. She went on a walk with Grandma and actually played with Papa. I think they all had fun. Loyal "Julia's World" Readers

Go Leafs Go!

Image
Tonight the hockey season finally begins for the Leafs. Well at least the pre-season begins. Julia is getting into hockey season mode by donning her beloved blue and white sweater of her favourite team and favourite player (well, Daddy's favourite player). I bought this for Julia for last season (thanks for nothing Gary B/Bob G). It's a bit tight but it'll have to do for now.

Blowing Bubbles

Image
Here is a video of Julia blowing bubbles. Not too exciting but good content for the grandparents (Click here to watch Julia blow bubbles) . Pictures taken today.

Say, that's a nice bike!

Image
Check out Julia's new toy. It is a bike from Aunt Betty. Julia loves it and wants to ride it all the time. Too bad she can't reach the pedals and I have to push her around the house...my back is killing me! It's now in the basement where Julia doesn't go. Is that mean? We'll pull it out of the basement when she gets a bit taller. She needs a new riding toy so I'll have to check out Toys R Us to see if there is anything that will fit her now. Also pictured is the car seat that will go in Papa's car went they move from Alberta (2 and a half more weeks!). Julia got to go to Dairy Queen today at daycare! What a treat! Julia loves soft serve.

POW!!!

Image
Julia got socked by the neighbour today. Nicole and Julia were playing nicely when Nicole decided to walk up to Sheryl's car and say "Mine!". Julia promptly went over to defend her territory; "Mine!". Then they were nose to nose in a bizarre toddler stand off. Sheryl quickly went over to break it up and grabbed each one to separate them. Before they got too far apart, Nicole used her free hand and gave Julia an open-handed slap in the face. I would like to say that Julia stood her ground and defended herself but I can't lie. Julia, half stunned, turned around to Sheryl and cried..."Mommy!". Round 1: Nicole (More rounds to come I'm sure)

Visiting Cole and Jasmine

Image
This afternoon we went to Brian and Ann's place to visit. The main purpose of the visit was to divide up our Leaf tickets for this season. It was also a good opportunity for Julia to finally get to play with Cole (6) and Jasmine (3). Julia was her nervous self. It took a long time to un-cling to Mommy and Daddy. After a while she was playing with Jasmine. Julia had a good time but she cried many times. There was a lot of "my daddy", "my baby", and "mine" going on from Julia. We'll have to get out there again to visit someday soon.
