Daddy's Back

After many months of being number two, I've have reclaimed my spot as "the favourite". It was Mommy, Mommy all the time and I was relegated to being the designated chauffer. Julia would run away from me at daycare when I picked her up, fight with me in the car while continually stating "I want my Mommy!". Really, I couldn't win...until now. How did I do it you ask? I used a clever combination of two things...technology and Dora! I borrowed a portable DVD player from a co-worker and had Dora playing during her drive. She loves it! She is so happy to see me when I pick her up. She's like a little zombie in the back seat staring at the screen. I only hear a few words during the drive. "Where's swiper?", "I wanna see another one!", "Move your arm!" (sometimes I accidentally get in her way). Now I have to return it so I'd better run out a buy one myself before I loose my top ranking. Who said parenting is hard? O...

Doctor's Appointment

Today was Julia's two year check up. It was generally uneventful aside from the 1 hour and 15 minute wait! It took forever. Julia is average weight, average height and perfectly healthy. She was really good too considering the wait. No poopy diaper this time too. On the way out we had a very scary moment. Getting off the elevator Julia got her hand caught in the elevator door. It was wedged in between the doors inside face and where the door goes into the wall. If you can't picture it, imagine putting your palm flat on the door and let the door open without removing it. This is what Julia did. Luckily there was another gentleman in the elevator with us and he stopped the door from closing any further while I pulled Julia's hand free. She was in pain. Her hand swelled up immediately. I tried to get her to use the hand to see if it was broken or sprained. She wouldn't hold anything with that hand so back up to the doctor's we went. They put an ice pack ...

Ear Check-Up

Julia went to the ear doctor today for a regular check-up. Unfortunately we found out that her ear tubes had fallen out. He said they have been out for awhile because the hole in the ear drum was closed too. This means that she is back to where she was last year. He suspects that she will continue to experience repeated ear infections and fluid behind the ears because she is still very young. We'll see. We have a follow up with him in 3 months. Julia was very co-operative at the check-up. She didn't cry or whine or anything. I think she was more concerned with the big dump she left in her diaper! I had to change her in the car afterwards. Not fun.

Tracy and Greg's

Image
On Sunday Tracy and Greg and the whole gang over their new home. Nice place and it was good to see Tanya and Uncle O too. The kids liked playing with the rabbit Mochi. He's a lot bigger than the last time we saw him. Julia was nervous of him at first but really warm up to him after a while. She even fed him grass.

Dancing with Dora!

Julia and the toddlers dance with Dora.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Image
Happy St. Patrick's Day! This was the best picture I could get of Julia in her St. Paddy's Day outfit. She's not to co-operative in the morning.

Show and Share Day

Image
Yesterday was show and share day at school. Julia brought her purple care bear and pictures of her purple room. I was told that she did very good sharing which was nice to hear. Today at school Julia helped make home made GREEN pasta. She was very proud of herself. Tomorrow they get to eat it. Grandma and Papere are picking Julia up from school tomorrow. She has already made it crystal clear to them that she is expecting a trip to McDonalds AND Tim Horton's on the way home. New PJs

Weekend

Image
Yesterday we went to Grandma and Papa K's condo for a visit. We haven't seen them for a long time so this visit was overdue. Julia had a great time. She loves to play with Grandma, ride in the elevator and look out the windows looking for buses and trains. Today Julia went to church with Mommy, Grandma and Papere. She said she had fun even though it was a long mass and was falling asleep by the end. In the afternoon we went to IKEA. Julia gets excited about IKEA. She's been there so many times now. Today we bought a new toy box and 2 purple chairs that match the table Uncle Louis gave her. Tuesday is "Show and Share" day at school. Julia is going to bring her "Share Bear" Carebear although she has made it quite clear that she does not want to share "Share Bear" with the other toddlers. She's too young to understand the irony.

Heart Check-Up

Image
Today Julia went for her annual heart check-up with the cardiologist. We got good news. Julia's hole in her heart is virtually gone and her valve restriction is very minor. She doesn't have to go back for another check-up until she is 7 years old. After her appointment she went with Grandma and Papere for lunch at...drum roll pleeease....WENDY'S and TIMMY HO'S! Julia's is so happy her grandparents are back from vacation. She was having donut withdrawl symptoms when they were away. She is back to normal now.

Purple Room Update

Julia has been sleeping in her new room all week. I guess she is now officially out of the crib. Next step...bye bye soother! Easier said than done but today she had her nap at school without it. She didn't complain at all. She did cry for it in the car on the way home. I was holding back but I eventually caved and gave it too her. I have to get tougher with it.
