Auntie Weezie Visits

Today Auntie Weezie has come for a visit and will be staying for a couple of days. Julia always has a lot of fun when Auntie Weezie is over. She was already having giggle fits at the dinner table. Don't ask me what she was laughing at because I don't have the faintest idea.

Julia Over a Year

Image
This is Julia morphing from last year to this year.

Asleep

Image
Here are a couple of pictures of Julia in her crib. One is from tonight, the other is from March 2004. Can you tell the difference? Julia had a good day today at daycare. Her best friend Maya is on vacation this week so she has been hanging around Sammy this week. Sammy (turns 2 in September) thinks that Julia is his girlfriend. He held her hand as they walked to the lunch room today. Unfortunately no pictures.

New (Noisy) Toy

Image
This is Julia's new toy. I think everyone had a version of this toy sometime in their lives. You push or pull it around and it pops these little balls around. Julia likes it. Daddy...not so much.

Julia's First Photos

Image
These are the first photos ever snapped by Julia by herself. Not bad but I think she can do better.

Banana

Today is a slow news day in Julia's World. After dinner Julia ate a whole banana. I have no idea where she puts it. Then she went for a swim in her favourite pool...the tub. She likes it because it doesn't have garbage and hair balls floating in it like Wild Water Kingdom.

Wild Water Rip-Off

Image
Today we went to Wild Water Kingdom. It sucks. First the weather wasn't co-operating. It was rainy and cool. This must be the first day this month where the temperature didn't hit 30. Figures. Secondly the place was a bit of a mess. It is run down and dirty. The water in the pool was cloudy. Yuck! No effort is put into this place. Third, the food is expensive and terrible. But it's for the kids right? Julia had fun. She always does when she is hanging with her cousins. Selena and Mya's cousin Jenna was also out today so it was even better for the kids. Julia didn't like going in the pool with me. I think it is a bit too deep and too cold. She likes her water 37 deg C and 4 inches deep . Overall the kids had a good time. For more pictures check out the picture gallery . If you're thinking of going to Wild Water Kingdom, DON'T! Go to the zoo or Ontario Place. It's a much better value at those places.

Wipe Out!

Julia wiping out. Click the image to see the video. It's large (i.e. better quality than the last videos I posted) so it takes a minute or two to load. If you are not on high speed you'll be waiting for a long time.

Pick Me a Movie

Image
This morning Julia was in a crabby mood. Sheryl tried to take her to the park but they only got the corner before they turned around. Julia just didn't want to go. Lou came over to help with some jobs around the house. We didn't get too much done. Basically we trimmed a few fence posts down. After Julia's 3 hour nap, we went to the mall to look for sandals for Julia. She needs them for Wild Water Kingdom tomorrow. We couldn't find anything. We'll have to take a detour tomorrow to Husky to pick her sandals up that she has at daycare. We did pick up a new bathing suit though. On the way home we stopped off at Rogers Video. Julia loves that place for some reason. I think it's the wide aisles and the colours. She picked out Million Dollar Baby for us. We'll watch it tonight. Everyone says it is great so I have high expectations for this one.

TGIF!!!

Image
What a long week. It's been a rough driving week with Julia. At first I thought it was her teeth bothering her that made her sooooo cranky in the car. She would sit for a 15 minutes and then that was it. Soother gets thrown, "baby" gets tossed, and she SCREAMS! This continues on and on until we get to Husky or home. It's tough on the nerves. But I don't think it is her teeth. I think she just hates sitting in the car. Luckily she was tired today and slept both ways. After dinner tonight we played a bit of play dough. Julia doesn't eat it anymore which is good. Now she carries around all over the place. Today she was playing on the carpet with the dough so I had to take it away from her. She didn't seem to care. I don't think that she understands when she is being "punished". A couple of softies run this household. Julia loves music and making noises. Here she is playing the drums in the tub. Her favourite activities seems to ...

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Image
Today is Mommy's (Sheryl's) thirty-something birthday. Well it turned out to be a fairly regular night. Sheryl worked late, I worked late, Julia got cranky - threw food. We'll try to do something more eventful on the weekend. After dinner, we quickly headed off to Dairy Queen! Mommy's favourite! We all had a treat, including Julia. Julia had a baby cone. She loved holding her own ice cream cone. Unfortunately I forgot the bring the camera! There were a couple of good photo ops that I missed. I have to get use to bringing the camera everywhere.

Visit to the Doctor

Image
Today I picked Julia up early from daycare to take her to the doctor. This appointment was the follow-up to make sure that her ear infection had cleared up. After waiting in the doctors office for one hour (this doctor is always behind) we got to see the doctor for two minutes. It was all clear. Julia can recognize the doctors office. She was very tense when we first walked in. She was clinging to me very tightly. She settled down soon once she got preoccupied looking at all the babies and infants in the waiting room. When we got to the doctor's examining room the tension was back. She said "All done! All done!" while pointing to the door before the doctor entered. As soon as she saw the doctor she freaked! Luckily it was a quick examination. I didn't have a picture for today so I posted a picture from exactly one year ago; July 20, 2004.

Teething Pains

Image
So it looks like it is teething pain that has been causing Julia's clingy behaviour. Today I had to drop by the CopperHouse at lunchtime to give Julia some Tempra. She was very "sensitive" this morning and they determined that it was her new molar coming in on her bottom left that is causing her pain. They asked me to stop by to give her Tempra so that she could have a comfortable nap. It seemed to have worked. She was in a very good mood when I picked her up but her teeth were bothering her on the drive home. We gave her more Tempra when we got home. The picture is of Julia "swimming" in the bath tub...one of her favourite bath activities. Tomorrow we go to the doctors for a follow up to check her ear infection.

Up All Night

Image
I don't know what was going on last night but Julia kept waking up crying. We came home from Grandma's at around 9pm and Julia went straight to bed after sleeping for the whole ride home. After that she was up after a couple of hours. Finally we gave her a bottle that she downed quickly at around 12:45am. Ahh problem solved...Wrong! She was up again in 20 minutes and she did not want to be alone. Sheryl basically got no sleep because of Julia's behaviour. We still don't know the cause. Out of routine, too much sugar, bad dreams? Who knows. Sheryl and Julia were both exhausted in the morning so they stayed home. Julia is sleeping well so far tonight (knock on wood).

Videos from Grandma's House

Image
Here are some short (bad quality) videos from Grandma's house today. (Video files hosted by putfile.com )

Grandma and Papa's House

Image
This afternoon we went to Grandma and Papa's house in Scarborough for dinner. This gave Sheryl and I a chance to visit Auntie Mikiko in the hospital. We were glad to have the opportunity to visit her. Julia stayed back and played with Grandma. We had dinner at Grandma's and even had bathtime there. Julia is getting very comfortable with Grandma and Papa. She even gave Grandma a big kiss...no kiss for Papa yet though! (By the way, I shampooed the carpet today. No permanent damage to the carpet.)

Off to Church

Image
Sheryl and Julia went to church this morning. Julia wore a nice summer dress with a matching hat. As you can see, the hat has shrunk and no longer fits. After church, they were nice enough to stop at Tim Horton's to pick up some doughnuts for daddy. Of course Julia had to have one too. Giving a doughnut to Julia before nap time turned out to be a bad idea. She was wired on sugar and wouldn't sleep even though she was exhausted. Live and learn.

Saturday at the Mall

Saturday was a bad weather day. Rainy and humid. We thought a day at the mall would be fun for Julia. We went to Square One in Mississauga. The mall was packed! I guess everyone had the same idea. Julia had her stroller but she did not want to sit in it for very long. Now that she can walk and explore on her own, why be strapped in a stroller. The only problem was that she always wants to wander on her own without holding our hands. Not a good idea when the mall is so packed. Keeping her happy gets very tiring in frustrating quickly. We lasted around 90 minutes before we headed home.

Surprise! Yuck!

I'm going to blame Sheryl for this one. After her bath, Julia gave us a big surprise. Julia was strolling around in her birthday suit in the office. Standing quietly she relieved herself right on the carpet! Number 1? Noooo Nooo No! Number 2! Luckily it was semi-solid and she avoided stepping in it. I was totally grossed out. It didn't seem to bother Julia too much. Sheryl was nice enough to pick it up and clean the carpet. Aside from that episode, Julia had a good day at daycare. She went right into painting as soon as we got there. She didn't even say bye to me until I said bye to her around 10 times. The afternoon was too hot again. They played inside again.

New Gallery Added - Julia's First Birthday

A new gallery was added today - Julia's first birthday . We had a huge storm in Bolton this afternoon. Julia did not like it. Thunder and lightning make her very nervous. She got through it though. Once we got home the weather was nice again. We took advantage of it after dinner by playing in the sand box and going for a wagon ride.

Out For Dinner

Sheryl had to work late today so we treated ourselves to a dinner out to Julia's favourite restaurant...Swiss Chalet! Julia is not crazy about the food but she loves all the attention she gets from all the old folks there. Julia has been having a great week so far at daycare. I was told today that Julia loves to sing when they have sing along time. I can believe it because she is constantly singing in the car ride home. "Rolly Polly" is one that I recognize when she sings.

New! - Photo Galleries

A new feature has been brought to Julia's World. Photo galleries! Check out the "Photo Galleries" section on the right side. More will be added soon.

Today's Photo - Julia and Daddy

This was taken after her bath tonight. Ready for bed!

Swinging!

Image
What a hot day it was! High of 34! Julia spent most of the day indoors at daycare today to avoid the heat so we decided to take her to the park this evening once it cooled down. It was 33 at 7:15pm! It was still too hot so we headed back home to cool down after swinging and a couple of trips down the slide. Tomorrow is suppose to be hotter!

Julia's Cousins

Here are some recent pictures of Julia's cousins Andrew and Nathan.

This Weekend

Image
This weekend wasn't too busy. Julia doesn't seem to be bothered by her ear infection anymore. Hopefully it is all clear now. Her last dose of the antibiotic is Tuesday. Saturday Lou and I spent the day working on the cabinets (see previous post) so Julia spent most of the day with Sheryl. Later on Lou and I went to Grantley and Kim's "surprise" Stag and Doe so Julia had even more time with Mommy. Sunday's weather was great but hot! We spent most of the day indoors. We ventured out in the morning to play in the sand box and later in the afternoon to play in the pool. Here are a few pics from today. Helping Mommy Taking Daddy's money!

More Storage!

Image
This is what Lou and I did this weekend....new wall cabinets in the laundry room. It was actually fairly easy to do.

Louis Visiting

Image
Today Louis is visiting helping me with some jobs around the house. This is Lou and Julia playing together.
