Mama's Birthday

Image
At the beginning of October we celebrated Mama's birthday (93rd?). It was good to see everyone. Mama now has 9 great grandchildren (that we know of).

School update

Julia is loving school. It wasn't always like that. In the first month it was a bit of a challenge socially. It was tough for her to be in new school without her friends. Lately she has been getting more comfortable. Academically she is doing great. Her reading and writing skills are excellent. We are very proud of how well she is doing.

Catching up

I've been falling behind again! New posts coming soon!

First Day of School!

Image
Today was a big day for Julia. This was her first day of REAL school! Grade 1! This is a new school for Julia so she was very nervous (although she wouldn't admit it). Sheryl took the day off so she could be with Julia for her big day. The morning started at the before school program. Julia was definitely nervous as she didn't want Mommy to leave. Sheryl obliged but soon one of Julia's friends from SK arrived. All was well from the point. Lexi is the only person Julia knows at the school. Of course Julia and Lexi clung together and as it turns out they are in the same grade 1 class (there are 3 grade 1 classes). This made the rest of the day fun for the both of them. Grandma and Sheryl picked up Julia. Grandma will be doing the pick-ups everyday (lucky us!). Julia had a great first day and is looking forward to tomorrow.

Labour Day Weekend

Despite the crummy weather we managed to have some fun this Labour Day weekend. On Saturday, Sheryl's friends came over for a visit with their kids. Even though it was only 13 degrees outside the bigger kids (Julia, Jessica and Thomas) went swimming! We cranked up the heat in the pool (see the steam in the pictures) so it felt like a hot tub! They had no problem staying warm in the pool. Little Emily and Kyle stayed out of the pool. They still played outside on the swings and with Jessica inside. Jessica was nice enough to give Julia her bicycle. She had outgrown it but it was the perfect size for Julia. We gave it a spin on Monday. Julia can't ride a two wheeler yet but she is getting the hang of it.

Mya's Birthday Party

I'm playing catch up again with this blog. Last weekend we went to Mya's birthday party. Mya is 7 years old! Yeah Mya! After the party, Julia and Mya went to Grandma's for a few days. Julia's summer camp was over so Grandma provided some much needed babysitting for us. The other Grandma took over for the rest of the week.

Night Swimming

The girls enjoyed some night swimming the past couple of nights. I cranked up the heat in the pool to keep them nice and warm. We threw some glow sticks into the mix tonight for some added fun.

Sleep Over

Image
Mya and Jenna stayed over after the BBQ on Saturday. They are here until Monday. The girls have been very busy. Swimming, night swimming, playing in the basement, watching movies, going to the movies. They are all behaving and getting along great. Last night they took our bed and we had to sleep in Julia's bed. I'm not sure who's idea it was but it wasn't mine! (I think it was Jenna's).

BBQ with Inamoto's

On Saturday we had a BBQ with the Inamoto gang. We don't get to get together to often so it was great to see everyone. It looked like all the kids had a blast. The weather wasn't too hot. The cloudy skies made it chilly at times although the kids didn't seem to mind at all.

Centre Island

Today we went to Centre Island with Ron, Julianne, Russell and Ava. The weather forecast was looking iffy but in the end it was a great day (a bit humid though). We spent the day at Centreville.

Yams

Image
On Sunday the Yams and Uncle Louis came for a visit. We had a great time in the pool and everyone stayed for dinner. It looks like the circus inspired Dan and Lucas.

Shrine Circus

Image
On Saturday we went to the Shrine Circus with the Tabata's and Yam's. The circus was at a mall in North York. The show was ok but not great. Some cool acrobatics but the main clown was painfully unfunny. The kids really liked it so I guess that's all that matters. Emily's favourite part was watching the man selling balloons (he had some Dora balloons). After the show we headed to the Pickle Barrel for dinner.

Backyard Living

Image
After all that rain we got on Saturday, we were eager to get into the pool on Sunday. What a perfect day!

Goggles

Emily loves her goggles!

Family Party

On Sunday we had family over from my Mom's side to see our "new" house. We got lucky with the weather again. No rain! It wasn't particularly hot but it was warm enough to be comfortable in the pool. The kids certainly weren't complaining!

Pool Party!

We had a great day with friends today. The weather was fantastic and the company was even better. Thanks everybody for making this an awesome day!

Julia's SK Graduation

Julia has now graduated from SK! The school held the ceremony in their outdoor courtyard. We are very proud of how well Julia did in SK. She can actually read books now! Grandma also came to the graduation. Like usual, Emily did her best to be the centre of attention. I think she succeeded.

Damage!

Image
Emily is a rough kid. She likes to be noisy, active (risk taker), and bang stuff around. Anything that makes noise is good to her. Well she took her spoon to our kitchen! Below is a picture of our bench in our new kitchen. Yup, right through the paint! Days later I asked her, "Naughty, who did that?". She said with a straight face, "Mommy".

Emily's First Haircut

Image
A few weeks ago we took Emily for her first haircut. I was kind of worried that she wouldn't sit there but she did. She wasn't happy about it (look at her face) but at least she let the hair dresser do her thing.
