London

This weekend we went to London with Autie Jackie, Uncle Gary, Selena and Mya. We started off on Sunday at Storybook Gardens. It's a great place for small kids. The weather forecast was iffy but it turned out to be perfect. It just rained a bit mid-afternoon. The kids had fun in the waterpark, seeing animals (the peacocks roaming free made them a bit nervous), and playing on the climbers. For lunch we had a picnic on the grounds.
After Storybook Gardens we went to the hotel. This was all the kids first time staying in a hotel. Julia insisted that we were at Grandma K's house. At the hotel we went to the pool before dinner. Julia experience at the pool started off rough. There was a small shallow pool for little little kids (2 ft deep). I sat Julia on the edge of the pool to give her a chance to get use to it. We'll she got use to it quickly because she FELL IN! I had my back turned, Sheryl yelled, and I turned around to see her UNDERWATER! She was fine. Scared but fine. After that she clung to me but still had fun.
For dinner we went to Crabby Joe's. The girls were literally climbing the walls. They were making each other hyper.
After dinner we went to the hotel to play in the kids area.
Today we went to another play place called Adventures on Wonderland. Good for small kids. Then on to a toy store and then said goodbye to the cousins.
Julia had a great time. She is looking forward to her next vacation.

A couple of love birds decided that the drain passage on our upper balcony would make a nice nest. These are persistant buggers. I broke up their nest two times on the weekend. Well finally they beat me. They built a nest AND laid an egg while I was at work. So now the big question...Do I let them nurse this egg into a new baby birdie or do I smash the egg and break up the nest? My soft side wants to let them be. My hard side wants to show them who's boss. What do you think I should do? Please comment.

Continued Progress

Emily had a great day. She is now out of the incubator and back into a regular bed. She also nursed twice today! At noon and at 6pm. We tried again at 9pm to see if she can handle back to back feedings but she was too tired. Breast feeding still takes a bit too much out of her. Tomorrow we will continue to try to alternate between nursing and tube. Emily is now off of the antibiotics. There as been no signs of infection. The IV will be coming off soon too. Her weight slightly dropped from yesterday which is not really a concern. Overall she looks much healthier than on Sunday. She is like a different baby. With the progress that she is making, we can anticipate that she will be home very soon.

Welcome Home Emily!

After 16 long days, Emily is finally well enough to come home. It has been a tiring and stressful experience but we are just glad to finally have Emily home. We are very lucky to have two Grandma's who could help us out when needed. They certainly made the whole ordeal much easier to manage. Julia and Grandma D decorated the house with a Welcome Home sign to greet Emily when we arrived. We gave Emily the quick tour of the house...bedroom, bathrooms, Julia's room, what not to touch in Julia's room (Baby with the Bib)...then she was right at home. We did learn today that Emily has an issue with one kidney. This was discovered in a pre-natal ultrasound and confirmed with an ultrasound on Friday. She has hydronephrosis (you can google it) which requires further tests, monitoring and on going antibiotics. The hope is that it will resolve itself over time. So although she is out of the hospital she still has a few hospital and doctors visits over the next 6 weeks for her ...
