Mid-Week Update

Big change in the daycare class this week. The 4 oldest toddlers have moved on to the pre-school class. That leaves Julia and 2 others in the toddler class. New toddlers will be join them in January so for now there is only 3 kids in that big room. Julia loves it. More toys for her. She never wants to leave now. Yesterday I had to go to the dentist and Mommy went to get her hair done. So Julia went to Grandma and Papere's house for dinner. After dinner they brought Julia home and gave her a bath. Tomorrow Julia will go to Grandma's house again for the morning. We are going to get our Christmas pictures done in the afternoon so we are both working a half day. We're going to try to get a picture with Santa too. We'll see how that goes.

Dinner at Grandma and Papere's

Today Julia went to church with Grandma and Papere. After church she had lunch at their house while Mommy and I cleaned the house ;-(. Later on we went back there for dinner. Grandma made us a nice fish dinner. Julia will be back there on Tuesday for dinner while I get my teeth drilled...not looking forward to that.

Visiting Grandma and Papa

Image
On Saturday we visited Grandma and Papa at their new condo. Selena, Mya, Andrew and Nathan were also there. Julia had a good time checking out everything. Later on, Grandma and Papa took us all out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary which was on Saturday. We went to a restaurant in the Scarborough Town Centre. The mall is a short walk from the condo. Julia had fun at the pet store too.

Oh No! SNOW!

Winter has arrived early this year. For those of you in the Toronto area you already know that. With the new snowfall comes a new experience for Julia. Last year during the winter, Julia wasn't even walking yet so she didn't spend anytime in the snow. Today was her first playtime in the snow at daycare. She HATED it! "No snow, no snow!" was all she would say. Unless a teacher was holding her hand she would be upset. I think she just has to get use to it. Tomorrow there will be way more snow than today because it's like a blizzard out there right now. We'll see how it goes tomorrow at playtime in the snow. Personally, I hate the snow too. Moving on Up

Image
On Wednesday Grandma and Papa moved out of their house of 37 years and into a brand new condo. I was helping with the move so Julia went to Grandma and Papere's house for the day. As always, she had a lot of fun there. The move went flawlessly and the condo is really nice. Great facilities! There is a movie room so I can foresee "Movie Days" at the Grandparents! It has a great view too.

Weekend Update

Image
Friday was another cold day so this time we bundled Julia up and put on her winter boots. Like always, she hated the boots because they were new. She wore them at school for her outdoor play so by the end of the day she was okay with them. Saturday Julia spent most of the day at Grandma's house while I rested at home (still a bit sick) and did a few things around the house and Mommy got her hair done. Later that night Grandma came over to babysit while we went to see the Toronto Marlies play. It was fun but it ain't the Leafs! Today Julia went to church with Mommy while Louis and I did some jobs around the house. Julia went to Grandma's house for lunch after church. This afternoon at home Julia took a pretty good fall. She fell off the Poang chair in the family room and hit face first into the floor. She came up with a fat lip and a bit of bleeding in her mouth. She seems OK now. Her lip looks normal and no signs of any cuts in ther mouth.

Catching Up

Tuesday - I went back to work and Julia went back to daycare. I found out that this week they are exploring colours. Each day they explore a new colour: Tuesday-yellow, Wednesday-Red, Thursday-Purple, Friday-Green. For each day they are to wear something of that colour. Julia wore GREEN, everyone else was correctly wearing YELLOW. Julia could care less. Wednesday - The big meeting with her teacher. Mommy and I met with her teacher in the afternoon. We were trying to be sneaky and get in there without Julia seeing us so she wouldn't get upset. They were outside but of course she spotted us through the window. Anyway, the meeting went well. Julia is right on schedule with her development (she could pile blocks 7 high...I didn't know that). Her potty training is going great. They gave us a couple of things to work on that they are also working on. 1) Julia spits food out if she doesn't want to swallow it. They are encouraging her to chew and swallow to eliminate ...

Home Sick...

me that is. I've been sick all weekend and today I had to stay home from work. Julia went to Grandma's house instead of daycare while I rested at home. They went to Zeller's to buy a safety gate for the stairs. I should be well enough to go to work tomorrow so Julia will be able to go back to daycare. We had to reschedule our appointment with her teacher to Wednesday.

All Day at Grandma's

Julia is liking having Grandma and Papere here in town. This morning Julia and Mommy went to church with Grandma and Papere. After church Julia stayed at Grandma's house for the day (after the obligatory visit to Tim Horton's for lunch and donuts). She has her own little pullout bed in Papere's office to take naps on. Afterwards, they all came back home to have dinner here. Auntie Linda dropped by too for dinner. Julia must have worn them out. Grandma and Papere left early to go to bed. Tomorrow we meet with one of Julia's daycare teachers. We will be discussing Julia's developmental progress ("Brigance") to date. It should be interesting. New weight and height stats for Julia. She has grown a bit. She is 32-1/4" high and 25.5 lbs.

Dinner at Grandma's House

Today we had our first dinner at Grandma's new house. At Julia's request, they cooked a great chicken dinner with the works...stuffing, carrots, beans, potatoes, beets, croissants, salad, pudding, donuts, and banana cream pie. They know that every night it is a guessing game as to what Julia will eat. They did a good job covering all the bases. While we were there I set up the computer, dvd player and VCR (yes they still make those). Julia had fun roaming around and playing with new toys that she has never seen before. There were lots of stuffed toys shaped like DQ treats. Julia (and I) had a lot of fun popping packaging bubble wrap. We will be visiting them again soon. Probably tomorrow.

Moving Day

Today we helped Grandma and Papere move stuff into their new home. Louis and I helped with the heavy stuff. Mommy and Julia came by later for a visit. Julia loves the new house. She has a blast exploring all the new hiding places. After we were done, Papere took us, Louis, and Aunt Weezie out for dinner. We went to a Thai food restaurant. Julia actually liked her food (non-spicy). After dinner I came home to watch the Leaf game that I recorded...what a disappointment. At least Belak didn't play. One more move this month (Grandma and Papa) and then I'm retired from moving.

Pick up by Grandma and Papere

Today Julia was picked up by Grandma and Papere from daycare. I had hockey after work so that saved me the drive home and then back to the rink. Although Julia likes to be at daycare, she seems to enjoy these occasional short days. Grandma and Papere's house is almost ready to move into. Julia is going to miss having them here all the time. At least this time when they leave they will be only 5 minutes away so Julia will still see them all the time.

Happy Halloween

Image
Julia had her second round of trick or treating this evening. This time at home with Mommy. We went to six houses or so before Julia got tired of it. She was pretty good. She was only scared at one house because they had a scary dummy sitting on the porch. After returning with her loot, Julia had fun answering the door to give out candy.

Trick or Treating at Daycare

Image
Julia went trick or treating with her class at daycare. They stopped by my building at work. Julia actually liked her costume today.

Halloween at Grandma's

Image
Today all the cousins gathered for a pre-halloween dinner. All the kids dressed up in their costumes for everyone to see. Julia was tolerant of her costume for around 10 minutes and then wanted it off. Tomorrow she'll have to wear it longer because she'll be trick or treating at daycare. I carved my first pumpkins this weekend. Check them out. Maybe next year I'll try something more elaborate.

Halloween Soon

Julia has worn her Halloween costume a few times this week at school. We asked the ladies there to try to get her to wear it. So far not bad but she still doesn't like it. They have a bunch of costumes in the room this week to get into the Halloween spirit but Julia is not really up for it. There is a puppet witch in the lobby that she is afraid of too. I think she'll like Christmas better. Julia was in a bad mood this morning. Extra cranky and tired. She sat on the couch saying "Julia's sad". I'm not sure what was bothering her but I'm guessing she was still tired when she woke up. When I picked Julia up this afternoon she was crying. Her room had some plumbing problems so they had the plumber there fixing the drain. Julia was a bit freaked out having a stranger in the classroom. She wanted to leave right away and calmed down as soon as we got outside. Once she got home she was in a really good mood.

Feeling Better

Today Julia stayed home with Grandma. We were able to get her in to see the ear specialist. Grandma and Papere took her. The doctor said that her ears were clear and the infection was in her throat. The good news is that it looks like it is almost gone. She didn't have a fever all day and we haven't given her any Tempra since last night before bed. Julia will be going to daycare tomorrow.

Fever!

Image
Julia developed a fever on Saturday morning. The timing was bad because this was the day of cousin Nathan's first birthday party. We had been looking forward to it for a long time because there would be lots of kids there for Julia to play with and it's always fun to see a one year old dive into a birthday cake for the first time. By the early afternoon her fever was still up around 102F so it was clear she wouldn't be going. I went by myself and Sheryl stayed home with Julia. Julia didn't sleep well last night. She stayed in our bed for most of the night and didn't sleep soundly. We were all tired today. She was in a fairly good mood today despite her fever still hovering around 100-102 for most of the day. It does seem like an ear infection again. Typical symptoms...high fever, no cold symptoms, touching her ear and ear discharge. I think she'll have to stay home with Grandma tomorrow and hopefully we could get her into her ear doctor soon. Here's...

Denny's

On Thursday Grandma and Papere picked up Julia from school. They dropped by early with Timbits for the toddlers. Of course they all loved them. Later that night they met Mommy at Denny's for dinner. I had to work late and had hockey later on so I missed out. I heard that everyone had a good time. This morning parents were invited to join the kids for breakfast. I stuck around for some fruit with Julia before running off to work. Julia enjoyed having me there I think, although she didn't seem to care that I had to leave. Tomorrow is cousin Nathan's birthday party! Julia has been looking forward to this all week. ;-)

Daycare Visitors

Today Julia had special visitors at daycare...her grandparents! Papere and Grandma dropped by for a visit in the afternoon. They got there around 3pm and stayed for an hour before heading home with Julia. Julia enjoyed their visit but wasn't too keen on seeing Logan and Ashley holding Papere's finger. "No Ashley, My Papa!". Poor Ashley gets heck from Julia everyday. Thursday Julia will be picked up by her grandparents again. I have to work late and then go to play hockey.
